Mary works with kids and wanted her look to reflect her “quirky and playful” personality. But an uneasiness with mixing colors and prints left her relying on clunky embellished shoes to communicate her playfulness, while the rest of her look was seriously boring. She also had trouble identifying cuts and fabrics that would flatter her body-type. During her appointment we discussed her problem areas and how to address them through the strategic placement of color, print, and accessories. Mary has a wonderfully long torso, but carries most of her weight through her hips and thighs. To compensate for this we created a stronger shoulder to balance out her lower half. We kept the focus up top with embellished necklines and fun prints, and used bolder accessories to polish off her look. Ladybird “shopped Mary’s closet” and used a majority of pieces she already owned to create her new looks. We then purchased just a few new items (more feminine footwear that wouldn’t compete with the rest of her look, dark wash denim, and larger accessories), and she was all set.
